About Celebrate Great Falls
Celebrate Great Falls Foundation – a new name for the well-established community organization you know so well. And the new name reflects a mission that is both the same and yet expanded. Here's the story:
Nearly 20 years ago, a small, local, nonprofit organization called The Brogue Charities was founded with two simple goals: helping local citizens in need and putting money back into the community for projects and events that were strictly local, such as the annual July 4th fireworks, which it soon became instrumental in keeping alive. Through the years, that little nonprofit evolved into the Great Falls Charitable Foundation, in recognition of its expanded activities. Throughout its evolution, the Foundation has donated over $500,000 to our local schools, numerous community projects, and the Freedom Memorial, among others. These things would not have happened without a local, community-centric organization and hometown leadership.
Through the years, Great Falls Friends, Newcomers of Great Falls, the Great Falls Optimist Club, our Foundation and a handful of dedicated residents pulled together to put on five major community events each year. As our community grew, so did the organizations' "to do" list. As a reflection of that growth and an ever-expanding focus on keeping it local, our Foundation reached out to these local stalwarts and invited them to bring those community events under one umbrella – a concept they embraced enthusiastically. That umbrella is now called the Celebrate Great Falls Foundation, which reflects our emphasis on "hometown".
So with new focus and new synergy but continued emphasis on "local", The Celebrate Great Falls Foundation has taken on responsibility for our town's five major annual events, becoming not only the coordinating umbrella under which these hometown events will reside, but also continuing to serve as a wonderful resource for community projects and charitable endeavors. Our five major events are:
- The Spring Festival – First Sunday in May
- The Annual Golf Tournament - First Monday in June
- The July 4th Parade and Festival
- The Halloween Spooktacular
- The Christmas Tree Lighting – First Friday in December
The Celebrate Great Falls Foundation:
- gives the local business community as well as residents a way to support their hometown in a cohesive, effective way,
- ensures that we have the long term resources to keep alive our hometown events by building an endowment specifically for that purpose,
- gives you a way to get involved in your community in a way that fits your schedule, your interests and your talents without having to join an organization or pay dues,
Most importantly, the funds raised through our activities and donations will be put right back into our community. Through this website, the Celebrate Great Falls Foundation will also be providing information for and about the community, schools, nonprofits, sports organizations and other local entities. Our goal is to become the place to turn for information about our town.
