Great Falls Streetscape Project
Win an original $3,500 oil painting by award-winning local artist Jill Banks
Called “Village Centre Walk,” the painting shows Walker Road as it will look in a few years when 17 newly-planted flowering trees reach maturity. Instead of sterile patches of grass, we will enjoy native trees providing spring and fall color, summer shade and leafy respite on both sides of Walker Road from the Safeway all the way to Capital One Bank.
Generously donated by Jill Banks, the framed painting is being raffled off by Celebrate Great Falls to support the Streetscape Project. Tickets are $50 each and a maximum of 100 tickets will be sold. If you win, you have the option to be subtly painted into the scene — your car driving down the street or you silhouetted walking your dog, chatting with a friend, … How cool is that? You could have a personalized, framed $3500 oil painting for only $50. Or increase your odds of winning and buy multiple tickets!
You may purchase ticket(s) by credit card via PayPal or a check may be mailed to Celebrate Great Falls, P.O. Box 295, Great Falls, VA 22066. If you prefer to pay by check, please complete the online form anyway so that we have your mailing address and contact information and can reach you if you win. Simply select the “check” option so we know to expect your check by mail. The winning ticket will be drawn as soon as 100 tickets are sold.

About the Great Falls Streetscape Project
Now that we have several grassy bump outs along Walker Road, we thought it would be beautiful to plant seventeen spring flowering native trees on both sides of the road between Georgetown Pike and the Safeway. In addition, we have lowered the white PVC pipes that also dot this area.
Working with VDOT, as well as the Fairfax County and Dranesville arborists, we have identified three different native trees that will thrive in this environment, not interfere with drivers’ site lines or power lines, and make our town more lovely year-round.
In addition, the trees will:
- Provide spring blossoms and fall color
- Visually narrow this stretch of Walker Road so it looks more appealing
- Provide shade
- Add tree canopies to help replace the many white oaks we have recently lost
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to complete this project, ensure that the trees are watered in the first year so they are well established, and to contribute towards future maintenance costs that may be required.
If you would like to support our efforts with a donation to Celebrate Great Falls, please donate online with PayPal or credit card.
