2016 Holiday Decorating Contest

Winners Announced

Congratulations to our three winners and thank you to all those who participated in lighting up the night this year! The true winner was our community for being able to enjoy it all! We would also like to thank our three judges this year: Julie Casso (The Arts of Great Falls Foundation), Teresa Nasif (Great Falls Friends & Neighbors) and Dawn McFee (Great Falls Citizens Association). Our judges reviewed the entrants on the evening of 12/21/16 and announced three winners in the following categories:

Honorable Mention goes to Krops Crops for their striking double row of red holiday lights on Georgetown Pike and the Porcelli Family at 798 Sherlin Lane for their traditional yet fun display.

Adeler Jewelers and their “Diamond Tree” received special kudos for the most elegant display and the Great Falls Volunteer Fire Department was recognized for their cheerful and robust holiday decor that, year after year, enlivens the heart of our community. This display cannot help but bring a smile to the face, and a lifting of the heart. We especially love the addition of Santa and his rescue boat sleigh!

Each of our three winners will receive $200, be featured in an ad in the Great Falls Connection and retain bragging rights throughout the year!

About Celebrate Great Falls Foundation

Celebrate Great Falls Foundation is all about our community — community spirit, community events, and community projects. Started nearly 20 years ago, the foundation sustains long-time community traditions such as the July 4th parade, Summer Concerts on the Green and the annual tree lighting in December. Through the years, Celebrate Great Falls has donated well over $500,000 to our local schools and community projects such as the Freedom Memorial and Turner Farm Park. Our traditions continue to grow with our now annual Winter Wine Tasting in February and the addition of the 4th of July Fireworks. Celebrate Great Falls is committed to keeping the spirit and traditions alive that make Great Falls such a special place to live.

Join us at our many annual events. There are many volunteer opportunities. Meet your neighbors. Make new friends. Celebrate beautiful Great Falls, Virginia.
